Derby beat Man Utd 8-7 on pens after Phil Jones miss

After bad start to the premier league season, Manchester United has been knocked out of the EFL carabao cup by Frank Lampard’s championship side Derby County 8:7 on penalties. Jose Mourinho was seen at the end of the shootout with England defender Phil Jones with his arm round him as they both walked off the pitch together.

Derby have been absolutely terrific tonight. What a performance, coming to Old Trafford and dominating that second half. They fully deserve to go through and Frank Lampard has had a brilliant week.

Man Utd 2-2 Derby (7-8 penalties)

The Master has been beaten by the apprentice.
Frank Lampard and Derby of the Championship dump Jose Mourinho and the five-times winners of the competition Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup.
Lampard shakes hands with each player being sprinting towards the away end and taking the acclaim from the travelling supporters.

A soft penalty from Phil Jones, not in keeping with the quality of penalties we’d seen so far. It was so easy for Scott Carson to save.
